Turkish President Abdullah Gul, expressing confidence in the "great future" of the sea resort on the Caspian coast, noted that "the efforts made in this sector which is very promising for the Turkmen national economy of Turkmenistan are very efficient."
The Turkmen media reported that he said it yesterday before the Mediterranean Antalya, where the Turkmen President, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived to participate in an investment forum dedicated to the development of tourism.
"The Turkish partners are ready to offer Turkmenistan its rich experience in the tourism industry," said the chairman of the Tourism Investors Society in Turkey, Turgut Gur. He said "Antalya was once a lonely place and started from zero, and now thanks to diligent work, it has become a resort of world significance."
According to the Turkmen Dovlet khabarlary (TDK), Berdimuhamedov emphasized the fact that the tourism industry occupies a special place in the strategic plans of Turkmenistan. As an example, he cited Avaz - the country's first free economic zone.
"This project is to accumulate the most advanced achievements of the world architecture and engineering ideas, high environmental standards," he said.
Investors, firms and companies working here are granted tax and customs privileges. At present, the Turkmen leader noted the total cost of the facilities constructed on the Caspian coast is already more than a half billion dollars.
We are rapidly building a new airport, highways, gas turbine power stations, desalination and water purifying plants. In October, a number of sanatorium and resort facilities will be put into operation. In the second stage of construction in Avaz, water parks, yacht clubs, an artificial navigable river and other facilities will appear. There are projects on construction of the oceanarium, an indoor ski complex, racetrack, casino-city.
The Great Silk Road passed via Turkmenistan which is rich in folk culture, various natural landscapes, unique archaeological sites - including those on the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage - Ancient Nisa, Merv, and Kunyaurgench, or, for example, Gonurdepe - the center of civilization Margiana , ancient Dehistan.
Kopetdag Mountains, flora and fauna of the Karakum desert, the coast of the Amu Darya, Koytendag, subtropical areas of South-West of Turkmenistan is a godsend for lovers of ecological tourism.
"The Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea and the southern limits of the Kopetdag - is a land of healing and strengthening the natural health clinics. Archman, Bayramali Mollakara, Yilisuv and other natural sources for its healing properties are comparable with the best resorts in the world," said Berdimuhamedov.
