The Japanese company Shinyei held a presentation of the equipment for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport. It can be used in various transportation projects in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Transport said.
In particular, the Japanese equipment can be used in constructing a hinged bridge over Baku bay, as well as laying roads, construction of tunnels and bridges.
A new hinged bridge will connect the two ends of Baku Bay (near the settlements of Bail and Zikh) and contribute to the unloading of the transport infrastructure of Baku. The length of the marine part will hit 14 kilometers. The construction operations will be completed within five years.
A twelve month project of feasibility study was launched in July 2010. The project budget is $1,6 million. The project is funded by KOICA. The grant agreement on the project between Azerbaijan and Korea was signed on March 11, 2010. It is aimed at improving the transport infrastructure of Baku, strengthening the relations and cooperation between the two countries based on the successful implementation of this project.
