Minister: Kyrgyz farmers to get preferential state credits

Kyrgyz 5 commercial banks will be engaged in distribution of preferential state loan of KGS 1 billion for farmers, Agriculture Minister Torogul Bekov said at a meeting of the committee on fiscal and monetary policy of Zhogorku Kenesh, 24.kg reported.

According to him, "Aiyl Bank", "Bank Bakai", "Bank of Asia", "Kyrgyzstan" and RSK will allocate credits for peasants under 9 percent. "They will proceed from the end of February - beginning of March. Loan size for one person ranges from 50 to 200 thousand soms," added Mr. Bekov.

The minister said that a loan of KGS 1 billion will be distributed across regions, taking into account acreage, the number of farmers. "So, Chui province is expected to receive KGS 250 million, Issyk-Kul - 126 million, Naryn - 85 million Talas - 87, Batken - 76.7, Jalal-Abad - 280, Osh - 175 million. Besides, 25 percent of the loan the Government intends to allocate to farmers who will sow wheat. So the government will ensure food security. At least 20 percent of the funds intended for those who would sow beet to provide the country with sugar. Then sunflower, cotton, potatoes, vegetables and fruits are following. The largest loan size of $ 200 thousand soms a borrower can take if he plants grain legumes," he concluded.
