The Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) Martin Marmi is on visit to Ashgabat, the press service of Turkmenistan's embassy in Azerbaijan reported on Thursday.
During his visit, Martin Marmi was received at the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan, where the sides discussed the issues of cooperation in the transport sector.
According to the report, Secretary General of IRU noted that in accordance with the mandate of the UN, the IRU's main task is to protect the interests of industry and organizing international cooperation in the field of freight and passenger transportation in the interest of harmonious and sustainable development of world economy.
As noted during the meeting, Turkmenistan pays special attention to the development of transport and communication sector. In this regard, was mentioned the importance of international initiatives of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, made at the 65th session of UN General Assembly.
