The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) urges strikers to immediately stop the strike.

The International Chamber of Commerce supports the legitimate rights of the striking workers. However, the protest marches which have been carried out with an illegitimate and political background, will have a negative impact on the development of business and the image of the country', the ICC stated on Friday.

The new parliamentary majority has clearly stated that the priority of its policy is to review the Labour Code. Based on this, the rallies are only weakening the new government and its ability to maintain social stability, the statement said.

The ICC calls on trade groups to immediately cease unlawful activities and to continue the dialogue with the business community through the tripartite commission set up under the auspices of the International Labour Organisation which aims to conduct negotiations on all the burning issues between employers and employees.

'The actions we have been witnessing in recent times, strain relations between the social partners and therefore have a negative impact on the international image of Georgia', the statement reported.

The International Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organisation, represented in more than 120 countries worldwide.
