The National Development Fund plans to give 7 trillion rials ($570 million) worth loans to the businessmen operating in the field of agriculture in near future to carry out several projects, Managing Director of the Iranian Agricultural Bank said on Sunday.
By implementing the projects, 22,000 job opportunities will be created.
Deputy Minister of Agricultural Jihad on October 30 said that Iran plans to give 50 trillion rials (some $4 billion) worth loans to the businessmen operating in the field of agriculture to carry out several projects in the next Iranian calendar year (to start on March 20, 2013).
The National Development Fund (NDF), Iranian Agricultural Bank, Bank Sepah, and Bank Saderat Iran are in charge of giving these facilities, the IRIB quoted Alireza Orangi as saying.
Iran inaugurated 4,724 agricultural projects during the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 20, creating more than 13,656 direct and indirect jobs, Managing Director of the Iranian Agricultural Bank said last week.
The projects are in the fields of water and soil management, animal husbandry, natural resources, agricultural industries, research and development, the Fars News Agency quoted Mohammad Talebi as saying.
Iran has ranked between 8th and 10th in global fruit production in different years. In the productions of pomegranates and pistachios Iran ranks first, in dates and cherries, 3rd, 4th in the production of apples and walnuts, and, 7th in producing citrus fruits. Some 50 kinds of fruits are grown in Iran. The record for pomegranate production is 100 tons in a hectare of land, 146 tons for apples and 70 tons for oranges.
