Uzbekistan may establish the Court on Intellectual Property Issues by July 1, 2019, Uzbek media reported referring to the draft decree of the head of state.
The Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office will exercise control over the illegal use of intellectual property, as well as compliance with legislation in the field of protection of intellectual property rights .
Among other innovations is the development of the draft law "On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellations of Origin".
In accordance with the document, the legal protection of trademarks is now provided to individuals and legal entities; the application can be submitted electronically through specialized electronic systems; trademarks that are international non-proprietary names of medicinal products are not registered as trademarks.
