Copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items in Georgia from January through April 2020, equaling $215.7 million or 21.5 percent of total exports, Trend reports referring to National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
In the reporting period, the exports of motor cars totaled $134.8 million, and their share in the total exports amounted to 13.5 percent. The ferroalloys export occupied the third place standing at $91.8 million and constituting 9.2 percent of the total exports.
The top import commodity in January-April 2020 were motor cars whose imports equaled $186.1 million (7.6 percent of the total imports).
The petroleum and petroleum oils followed in the list with $171.2 million (7 percent of imports).
The copper ores and concentrates were third in the top import commodity list with $166.1 million (6.7 percent of imports).
The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $3.46 billion from January through April 2020, 11.8 percent lower compared to the same period of 2019. The exports equaled $1 billion (11.9 percent lower), while the imports stood at $2.46 billion (11.8 percent lower).
