Iran’s exports through the customs of South Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) decreased by 53 percent in value and 33 percent in volume, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of South Khorasan Province Customs Office Hassan Rahimizadeh said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
The director general said that 1.77 million tons of goods worth about $577 million were exported from province’s customs within the reporting period.
He added that vegetables, cement, ceramics, light hydrocarbons, diesel, bitumen, dates, fittings, and so on were main exported goods via the province's customs. These goods were mainly exported to Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and Turkmenistan.
Rahimizadeh also pointed out that 1,960 tons of goods worth $19 million were imported to the South Khorasan Province in 9 months. The imports increased tenfold in value and fourfold in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
According to him, the imported goods were mainly manufacturing equipment and related spare parts, etc. The goods were imported from the UAE, Georgia and Afghanistan.
“In addition, 71,100 tons of sugar, chicken, flour, and so on were transported to Afghanistan from Iraq, India, Indonesia, Turkey and Russia by 2,421 trucks through customs of South Khorasan Province within nine months,” the official noted.
Rahimizadeh emphasized that transit of goods decreased by 55 percent in volume and 53 percent in terms of the number of trucks, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
