The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to drill 21 new wells at largest offshore field Oil Rocks, the company said.
Earlier this week the company put into operation new well with daily flow of 90 tons in this field. The well were drilled from five-unit platform 1887 installed in the field in 2006 which was meant for 36 wells. As many as 13 wells will be drilled from the platform for the coming three years.
According to estimates of the SOCAR geologists, residual volume of oil at the Oil Rocks totals 30 million tons. The SOCAR will drill 78 wells in the field until 2010 to increase oil production. New platforms are expected to be built.
