SOCAR does not intend to monopolize retail market of petroleum products in Azerbaijan

The joint venture SOCAR Petroleum intends to open in Azerbaijan, seven own brand filling stations, Head of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev said.

SOCAR commissioned its first three filling stations in Baku- on the highway leading to the Baku International Airport named after Heydar Aliyev, Zig highway and Bibi Heybat highway May 7.

Abdullayev said investment in construction of filling stations in Azerbaijan make 20 million manat.

The company will commission more 10 own brand filling stations in 2011, he added.

According to Abdullayev, SOCAR, which is the sole oil producer in the country on the basis of its two refineries, does not intend to monopolize the retail market of petroleum products in Azerbaijan

Products for filling stations will be purchased from SOCAR's tank farms for the same for prices all. Abdullayev said all companies operating in the Azerbaijan retail market of petroleum products are competitors for SOCAR filling stations. Therefore, the company intends to provide excellent service and a variety of services to its users to attract customers. In particular, the fillings stations have shops, cafes, car washes and terminals, where you can pay for electricity, gas, water, and many other services. Due to this, SOCAR intends to attract potential customers.

The shareholders of SOCAR Petroleum are SOCAR (51 percent) and the American AP International (49 percent). SOCAR Petroleum was registered Jan. 21, 2008.
