Iran discloses number of new oil wells to be drilled

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 17

It is planned to drill 165 new wells and repair 71 wells in Iran on the basis of 13 contracts signed on August 17 in addition to 10 contracts signed in 2019, to maintain and increase oil production, said Reza Dehghan deputy director of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Trend reports citing NIOC.

Dehghan emphasized that following the project commissioning, Iran's total oil production will increase by an average of 250,000 barrels per day.

The deputy director added that it is planned to sign another 10 contracts worth 1.3 billion euros by the end of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021). With the implementation of these contracts, total oil production will further increase by more than 120,000 barrels per day.

On August 17, 13 contracts were signed between the National Iranian South oil Company (NISOC), Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) and 14 Iranian contractor companies to maintain and increase oil production. As expected, Iran's oil production will increase by 185,000 barrels per day with the implementation of these contracts worth 1.5 billion euros.
