The generation of alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran amounted to 158 million kilowatt-hours in the 6th month of the current Iranian year (August 22-September 21, 2020), Trend reports citing Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization.
According to the report, the generation of alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran amounted to 4.17 billion kilowatt-hours during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 20-September 21, 2020).
“The electricity losses at Iran's renewable power plants were reduced by 17 million kilowatt-hours in the 6th month,” the report said.
In total, the electricity losses at these power plants were reduced by 459 million kilowatt-hours for 6 months.
According to the report, 45 million cubic meters of natural gas have been saved in 6th month with the operation of these power plants. While in six months, 1.18 billion cubic meters of gas were saved.
“At the same time, with the operation of renewable power plants, 35 million liters of water were saved in the sixth month. While in 6 months, this figure amounted to 918 billion liters,” the report noted.
In addition, the spread of 102,000 tons of greenhouse gases was prevented in the 6th month with the operation of these power plants. However, the spread of 2.87 billion tons of greenhouse gas was prevented in a total of over 6 months.
According to the report, there are currently 841 alternative renewable energy power plants operating in Iran. At the same time, 384 such power plants are installing.
“The private sector invested 125 trillion rials (about $2.96 billion) to the installation of Iran's alternative renewable energy power plants,” the report added.
According to the report, 41 percent of Iran's alternative renewable energy power plants are solar panels and 36 percent are wind turbine power plants.
