Kazakhstan, Astana / Trend corr. K.Arinova / The Transport and Communications Ministry of Kazakhstan held their latest meeting on the competitive commission for defining concessions on the draft program of the construction of the new railway station of Eraliyevo-Kurik.
The goal of the draft is to allow for transfering Kazakhstan oil to the world market. It was planned that there should be a creation of an oil-loading terminal with 20mln t capacity per year within the framework of the project for developing the Kurik harbor. Widening of the harbor, in its turn, demands increase the passing capacities of the routes, linking it with oil fields. The railway Eralivio-Kurik will be commissioned within the project of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan.
Implementation of the draft will broaden the transport and export potential of the country.
The length of the railway is 14.4km and the costs for its construction come to 7.6bln tenge. The construction work will commence in December 2007.
