The turnover on payment cards through ATMs and POS terminals in Azerbaijan amounted to over 2.2 billion manat ($1.3 billion) in October 2019, which is 36.7 percent more than in the same period of 2018, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani Central Bank (CBA).
According to the CBA report, total number of transactions with payment cards amounted to 15.3 million transactions (an increase of 42.2 percent) worth 2.2 billion manat ($1.3 billion) for the reporting period. Some 1.7 million transactions worth 138 million manat ($81 million) were carried out outside the country.
The number of transactions with debit cards (both domestically and abroad) amounted to 13.4 million transactions worth over 2 billion manat ($1.2 billion), of which 6.6 million transactions worth 1.5 billion manat ($884.2 million) were carried out using ATMs in Azerbaijan, and 1.7 million operations worth 173 million manat ($101 million) via POS terminals.
In October 2019, bank customers carried out 1.9 million transactions worth 145 million manat ($85 million) via credit cards (both domestically and abroad). Moreover, 267,000 operations worth 44 million manat ($25 million) were carried out using ATMs within the country, and 770,000 operations worth 42 million manat ($24 million) were carried out using POS terminals in the country.
