Azerbaijan registers decrease in lending for industry and production for year

The loans issued for the industry and production sector decreased by 21.8 million manat ($12.8 million) or 2.3 percent in Azerbaijan in January 2022, compared to January 2021 from 981.6 million manat ($577.4 million) to 959.8 million manat ($564.6 million), Trend reports referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

During the reporting period, the share of industry and production in the total lending for the real sector of the economy amounted to 5.6 percent (a decrease by 1.1 percent for the year).

In general, lending to the real sector of the Azerbaijani economy in January 2022 increased by 18.2 percent or 2.6 billion manat ($15.3 billion) compared to January 2021 from 14.6 billion manat ($8.6 billion) to 17.2 billion manat ($10.1 billion).

Short-term loans issued to legal entities in this sector, excluding non-bank credit organizations and excluding problem loans, amounted to 182.4 million manat ($107.3 million).

Some 133.5 million manat ($78.5 million) out of this amount accounted for the loans in the national currency while 48.8 million manat ($28.7 million) - in foreign currency.

Some 765.9 million manat ($450.5 million) or 82.47 percent of the total volume of loans issued for the industry and production sector accounted for long-term loans to legal entities. Around 555.9 million manat ($327 million) out of this volume accounted for loans in the national currency while 210 million manat ($123 million) - in foreign currency.
