The number of flights (passenger planes only) carried out from the Mehrabad International Airport in the Tehran Province (northern Iran) increased by 19 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through January 20, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.
According to the statistics, a total of 97,531 passenger planes landed at and took off from the airport in 10 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 81,889.
“Over 10 months, 8,801,228 passengers were transported through Mehrabad airport. Passenger transportation increased by 17 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 7,537,401 passengers had been transported through this airport in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.
Moreover, 68,248 tons of cargo were transported through the airport within the mentioned period, which is an increase of 26 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, cargo transportation amounted to 54,333 tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Iran's Mehrabad International Airport can receive 18 million passengers a year.
