Uzbekistan, Portugal reach preliminary agreements on future co-op

Uzbekistan and Portugal reach a number of preliminary agreements on the future cooperation areas, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

The topic of cooperation was discussed during the visit of delegation of Uzbek embassy to France to Portugal.

During the delegation’s in Lisbon and Porto, a number of meetings were held. A presentation of the economic potential of Uzbekistan was organized jointly with the Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP) and an agreement on cooperation was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and AIP.

A number of preliminary agreements were reached during the visit. In particular, about the celebration of the Independence Day of Uzbekistan in the city of Leiria, the participation of our country in the UN International Conference on Oceans in Lisbon in June next year, the holding of a business forum in Lisbon, Porto and Leiria and the presentation of an overview of Uzbekistan in September.

As a result of the negotiations, it was decided to work out and sign an agreement on the establishment of partnerships between the cities of Bukhara and Porto, Tashkent and Lisbon and to hold a cultural event in the capital of Portugal on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In addition, it is planned to facilitate dialogue between the universities of the cities of Porto, Migno and Uzbek universities, as well as to establish cooperation with the Global Platform for Syrian Students Foundation to attract grants to the Educational Center for training Afghan citizens created in Termez.
