This Iranian year (started on March 21, 2018), 70 tons of sesame oil will be extracted and sold in Mehran county of Iran's Ilam province, director of the agricultural organization of Mehran county of Ilam Province Hassan Muradi said in an interview with IRNA.
He said that the sesame seeds have been harvested since mid-November.
Muradi added that 70 hectares of sown area of Mehran county this Iranian year were allotted for sesame seeds.
He said that on average, 1 ton of sesame seeds are harvested from each hectare.
This Iranian year over 70 tons of sesame seeds are expected to be harvested and will be sold, he said.
Muradi said that sesame crops need less water than other crops.
Thus, 18,000 hectares account for sown areas in Mehran county.
