TEHRAN, Iran, August 20. Importing second-hand and old machinery will reduce the quality of products in the auto, home appliances, and industrial pumps sectors in Iran said the chairman of the domestic machinery and equipment manufacturing center in the Ministry of Industries, Mine and Trade Mohammad Mehdi Hadouvi, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Importing second-hand and old machinery is exempted from customs tariffs, however, the use of old machinery in production lines will produce poor quality products causing discontent among customers, he said.
The official pointed out that the center tries to limit the import of old machinery to support domestic production.
Importing new machinery for the production of basic materials for steel sheets or advanced auto gearbox is expensive, Hadouvi stressed.
The Ministry of Industries, Mine, and Trade aims to support domestic manufacturers of industrial machinery including HEPCO and AzarAb Industries to boost production.
