Germany contributed Thursday to the build-up of the new Kosovo Security Forces (KSF) by donating vehicles, trucks, trailers and other equipment from its stocks, dpa reported.
Germany donated 204 motor vehicles and trucks to the KSF and the hand-over of the donated equipment should be completed in the first half of 2009, German forces in Kosovo said in a statement.
Kosovo launched its own security force in January, almost a year after declaring independence from Serbia. Serbia, which opposes Kosovo's independence, dismissed the new force as an "illegal" creation.
The KSF is to comprise of 2,500 lightly-armed permanent and 800 reserve troops. All its equipment will come from Germany, while NATO and the United States are charged with the training.
