(RIA Novosti) - Ukraine's president may soon receive the leader of the parliamentary coalition and candidate for prime minister, Viktor Yanukovych, to discuss the country's long-running turmoil, a parliamentarian said Wednesday.

A new parliamentary coalition led by Yanukovych's Party of Regions became legitimate Tuesday and re-submitted his prime ministerial candidacy to President Viktor Yushchenko. The president will now have to decide on recommending the candidature to parliament within 15 days, reports Trend.

"President Yushchenko may receive the leader of our party to discuss the pressing issues of parliamentary work and the prospect of forming a new government," said

Yevhen Kushnarev, deputy head of the Party of Regions faction in parliament.

He also said the meeting between Yushchenko and his former rival in the 2004 presidential race would consider Yanukovych's appointment as prime minister.
