Professor Rovshan Mustafayev, Director of the Institute of Human Rights of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (NASA), told Trend that new facts on the massacre of Jews in Azerbaijan in 1918-1919 by Armenian gang groups have been revealed.
He stated that the names and surnames of the 118 Jews killed by Armenians in the Guba District of Azerbaijan and its outskirts have been identified
Mustafayev told of the cruel massacre of peace-loving Jews in Shmi Valley near Guba. Official statistics show that the number of Jews killed as 1,200-1,300. However, considerable changes have since been injected into the data. Following the overthrow of the national government in Azerbaijan by the Soviet Army, a number of Armenians and members of a terrorist organization Dashnaksutyun infiltrated the offices of the State Archives of Azerbaijan. This invasion resulted in the disappearance of documents relating to events of this period and, more importantly, details of the massacre acts committed by the Armenians.
Mustafayev noted that the major sources of the Institute of Human Rights were not obtained from only the archive document, but also from religious centers. Prayers are given to the memory of the killed Jews in the Synagogues of Azerbaijan and in other world countries every year on 31 March. Praying for the soul of all those killed on 31 March 1918 and reading Khashgovod they dont know that they were killed by Azerbaijan Armenians. Mustafayev also said that they revealed some facts of Armenians closeness to Hitlers fascist ideology. For instance, we acquired an Armenian newspaper called Hayastan published in 1943. This depicted a photograph of Hitler, a Nazi symbol and an article by an Armenian general who described his nation as the superior nation. MP Abramov assisted us greatly to reveal the facts of the massacre of Hew in Azerbaijan by Armenians, he emphasized.
In his interview with Trend MP Evda Abramov, a Jew by origin, spoke of the massacre of Jews by Armenians in Azerbaijan. He noted that the unofficial data revealed that around 3,000 mountain Jews were killed by Armenian Dashnaks in 1918.
