Turkmenistan is confidently gaining a foothold as a key link in creating a new regional and interregional transport and communications infrastructure, which is one of the main factors of its global socio-economic progress, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
The project for construction of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway that was initiated by Turkmenistan and is being implemented jointly with the partner states proves that.
To date, 45 kilometers of Turkmen section of this international transport corridor has been constructed, said the newspaper. The departments of Turkmenistan's Railway Transport Ministry continue the work on constructing the railway on Atamyrat-Imamnazar segment.
"Currently, the work on the construction of ground infrastructure facilities is underway on the 23rd kilometer, the work on filling rubble-gravel mixtures is underway on the 36th kilometer, and the work on preparing the soil roadbed - on the 46th kilometer," said the report.
Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railroad should become an important link in international vehicle transportations between the countries of Central Asia, according to the report.
Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said that this rail route, in addition to real economic benefits, will provide ample opportunities for constructive integration of the Central Asian countries into the world economic space on the basis of equal partnership.
The transport corridor uniting transit communications infrastructure of the three neighboring states, will also allow to increase bilateral trade by several times.
