Iran imported 1.4 million tons of oil cakes (press cakes) during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year (which started March 20), according to Akbar Sebghati, secretary of Iran Oil Extraction Industries Association.
Citing the fact in critical remarks, Sebghati said the imports have crippled the domestic producers of press cakes who are completely able to supply the market.
“Over the past three years oil extraction factories rose to their feet after years of being shut down. But the import of press cakes can once more lead these factories to closure.”
