An attempt to transfer drug inside onion to prison has been prevented in Azerbaijan.
The Shirvan city resident, 34-year-old Niyamaddin Alikhanov attempted to secretly transfer drugs to a sentence serving Bakhtiyar Gahramanov, born in 1965, Azerbaijani Justice Ministry's Penitentiary Service Public Relations Center said.
During the inspection of food products, narcotic substance - heroin with weight of 4,980 grams was found inside an onion.
Gahramanov was charged of Article 234.2 of the Criminal Code (Illegal purchase or storage with a view of selling, manufacturing, processing, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics or psychotropic substances) and sentenced to five years in prison.
