Turkmenistan to become the vice-chairman of the UN European economic commission

From April 9 to April 11, 2013 the fifth meeting of 65 sessions of the European economic commission of the UN (UNECE) where passed elections of the chairman and two vice-commission chairmen for two-year term took place in United Nations Office in Geneva, Turkmenistan embassy in Azerbaijan with a reference to the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.

Following the results of elections the Commission administrative board is declared: The kingdom of the Netherlands - the Chairman of the European economic commission of the UN, Turkmenistan and Switzerland - Vice-chairmen of the European economic commission of the UN.

The chairman and vice-chairmen of commission are also the chairman and vice-chairmen of Executive committee of the UNECE acting as the managing director of body of European economic commission during the two-year period.

The official report following the results of the 65th session of UNECE reflects the unanimous solution of 56 state members of European economic commission.

Thus, since the end of the 65th session of April 11, 2013 until the end of the 66th session in April 2015, Turkmenistan will be the vice-chairman of the UN European economic commission.
