In recent days, Iran has been experiencing problems with ATM machines and POS (point of sale) systems in the country, IRNA reported.
According to many retailers,vendors and clients, for the past couple of days, the systems were not working properly, causing problems with card payments.
The problems with ATMs caused formations of long queues.
Local municipal services and state agencies have also experienced problems while using the system.
Iranian Central Bank's head of Communication and Information Technology department, Nasser Hakimi said that the network that ATMs and POS Systems in Iran use is called the "Shetab Network", and recently there were specific technical upgrades going on.
"The upgrades are the reason ATMs and POS systems do not work stable," Hakimi said, adding that the issue will be resolved in a few days, as soon as the network is fully upgraded.
