For the first time in Middle East, Iran has managed to create a 3D printer, Mehr reported.

3D printing is a process of making a three-dimensional solid object of virtually any shape from a digital model.

This type of printing is achieved using an additive process, where successive layers of material are laid down in different shapes.

The printer created in Iran has the ability to print three-dimensional objects in microscopic scale.

Prior to Iran creating such a printer, the technology was only available in Germany and the United States.

Iranian experts spent 3 years working on the 3D printer project, eventually creating one, which can be used for military purposes, medicine, and education.

The 3D printer was approved and patented by Iran's Isfahan University of Technology.

Due to imposed sanctions, Iran was not able to purchase one such printer from abroad.
