Two policemen were shot and killed Saturday by unidentified gunmen near the outskirts of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, security officials said, DPA reported.
The officials also reported the kidnapping of a Christian man in in the centre of the city, some 400 kilometres from the capital Baghdad.
The officials gave no further details of the attack on the policemen or the kidnapping, which took place late Friday.
The politically tense and ethnically diverse region where Mosul is located is the scene of near-daily, deadly attacks against security forces and civilians despite ongoing efforts by the police and army to secure the area.
