A Carnival Corp cruise ship was stranded in the Caribbean waters off Mexico's Yucatan coast after a fire in the engine room, the company said Monday, DPA reported.

None of the 3,143 guests on board was harmed, and the ship's fire extinguishing system put out the fire.

The luxury cruise ship Triumph, owned by the British-American Carnival Cruises, was being towed back to land by the US Coast Guard. The ship had been heading to Texas on the southern coast of the US.

Other cruise ships have been delivering water and food to the ship. Electric power was still running, but the only toilets functioning on the ship were in the forward area, CNN broadcaster reported.
