US President Barack Obama on Thursday solicited advice from dozens of executives from the country's top technology firms on how to modernize government systems, dpa reported.
"We can't do this alone," Obama told the heads of companies like Facebook, Microsoft and Time Warner at the White House.
He said outdated government technology causes massive inefficiencies and threatens national security.
"The technological revolution that has transformed our society over the past two decades has yet to reach many parts of our government," Obama said, describing "reams" of documents that are still shipped between government offices instead of being put online.
