Protest Action Staged in Azerbaijan’s Nardaran Settlement

Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 March / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / The residents of the settlement Nardaran in Baku are demanding the end of publishing of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad by newspapers in Denmark from international organizations.

Haji Movsum Samadov, the chairman of the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan (IPA), stated to Trend that a rally was staged on Imam Huseyin square. Rally participants protested against the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad and pressure against Islam and demanded that immediate measures be taken to prevent similar events in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Slogans were sounded against the United States, Israel and other western countries.

"Several countries staged protest action against the pressure imposed on Islam and bloodshed in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan. The United States and Israel, which occupies Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan, committed genocide against Muslims," the IPA chairman stated.

The flags of the United States, Israel and Denmark and a range of other western countries, as well as a dummy of G W Bush were burnt out during the rally.
