Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 August/ Trend , corr A. Gafarov/ The law enforcement agencies in Gusar region of Azerbaijan ( 220 km north of Baku) have conducted an operation against salafis (vahhabists).
The correspondent of Trend reported citing sources in law enforcement agencies that an armed incident took place between frontier guards an d salafis (vahhabists) who attempted to cross the border of Azerbaijan near Hazra village of Gusar which borders with Dagestan.
The incident killed one soldier of State Border Service and wounded one.
The Prosecutor's Office of Gusar region confirmed the report. At the moment heads of law enforcement agencies are at the scene of incident.
The entry and exit to the village are reported to be closed. The opposite side has not suffered any losses.
On 17 August, a blast took place in Abu Bakr mosque in Baku. The blast killed 2 and wounded 19 in the mosque where mostly salafis pray.
