Iran arrests criminal group member who takes Afghans hostage

A member of a criminal group that took Afghan citizens hostage has been arrested in the Iranian city of Salam.
The Afghans were released, the FARS news agency quotes Salam City Police Chief Shahrokh Bakhtiari as saying on Thursday.
A group of persons who took five Afghans hostage demanded $1,000 for each of them from their families. Police arrested one member when he received money from the family of a hostage.
