Turkish security forces arrested 17 militants of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party, who recently escaped from prison, TRT Haber TV channel reported today.

According to the TV channel, the militants were arrested in the village of Ortachanak in Bingol province.

Some 18 members of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party recently escaped from jail in the Turkish province of Bingol. One of them is still 'on the run'.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for over 25 years and has claimed the lives of more than 40,000 people. The PKK is recognised as a terrorist organisation by the UN and European Union.
