Two more persons detained regarding armed incident in Azerbaijani city of Sumgait

As a result of investigation and search operations, officers of police and public prosecution bodies of Azerbaijan have arrested two more persons suspected of involvement in armed incident in the city of Sumgait, according to the message of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry.
Residents of Sumgait, Alim Taghiyev and Firudin Musayev were detained as a result of operative-investigative measures.
A conflict broke out between a group of persons belonging to the Khawarij and Salafi extremist movements on Dec. 11 at about 20:30 in a tearoom located in the 10th district of Sumgait city. The city's residents Anar Rahimov and Elmar Mammadli were stabbed during the incident and the residents of the Teze Jorat settlement Elshan Musayev and Elnur Nazaraliyev got shrapnel wounds.
A search was conducted in the apartment of Anar Rahimov, who was stabbed during the incident. The searches in his apartment revealed an F-1 grenade, a bayonet, 30 cartridges, a cartridge clip, a laptop, banned religious literature of different content.
A search in the apartment of Elnur Nazaraliyev, who got shrapnel wounds, revealed one sawn-off hunting rifle, one bayonet, 26 audio CDs , 31 cartridges of different caliber. During the searches in an apartment rented in Sumgait by the Guba district's resident Anar Mirzayev, 104 grams of hashish, 16 audio CDs of propagandistic character, banned religious literature of different content were also seized. A search in the apartment of Sumgait resident Vugar Khalilov revealed a grenade, 31 cartridges for a sub machine gun and one bayonet.
Investigation and search operations regarding the incident are underway.
