The European Commission (EC) keeps its sanctions regime, including sanctions imposed on Iran under constant review, a source in the office of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission Catherine Ashton told Trend on Monday.
"We keep our sanctions regime under constant review and can adapt it if necessary," the source said.
Answering the question about possible imposing of sanctions on the import of Iranian gas, the source said he "can't comment on rumors in the press".
European Media reported that the EU plans to impose embargo on the import of Iranian gas in the mid-October.
Europe has already imposed sanctions on the import of Iranian oil. At the beginning of 2012, the Union jointly with the United States imposed new sanctions on Iran's oil and financial sectors aimed at preventing other countries from purchasing Iranian oil and conducting transactions with the Central Bank of Iran.
U.S. sanctions entered into force on June 28, while EU bans on Iranian oil imports came into force on July 1.
