Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif within the UN General Assembly in New York, Iranian news agency FARS reported on Saturday.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed issues of further expansion of bilateral relations, and regional and international cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran.
At the meeting, Mammadyarov invited his Iranian counterpart to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan.
The sides also discussed the agenda of the next meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on cooperation in economic, trade and humanitarian spheres between Azerbaijan and Iran.
It was also noted that before the next meeting of the interstate commission it is necessary to intensify discussions of experts and working groups to expand cooperation in the fields of energy, transportation and others.
