ZANGILAN, Azerbaijan, May 30. Mine action in Azerbaijan is particularly important in preparation for COP29, UN Assistant Secretary-General, Deputy Administrator of the Development Programme, Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS Ivana Živković said, Trend reports.
She made the remark during the 3rd International Conference on Humanitarian Demining on “Mitigating Environmental Impact of Landmines: Resource Mobilization for Safe and Green Future”.
“As the Government of Azerbaijan prepares for COP29, the commitment to address environmental issues related to mine action and the wider issue of climate change is more relevant than ever. Therefore, today's conference and the upcoming COP29 are closely linked, as both focus on transformative action for environmental and climate resilience,” she said.
