BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14. Voting results at one of the polling stations in Azerbaijan's Sumgayit electoral district have been cancelled, Secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Arifa Mukhtarova said at today's meeting of the CEC), Trend reports.

Mukhtarova noted that a complaint from Yasaman Mahmudova, a candidate in the Azerbaijani snap parliamentary election from Sumgayit’s first electoral district No. 42, was reviewed.

According to the secretary, Mahmudova submitted a request to annul the results of voting at all polling stations in this electoral district.

In her complaint, the candidate mentioned irregularities on election day, including illegally cast ballots, instances where one person voted multiple times, and other election-related violations.

Video and photo evidence were attached to the complaint.

CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov pointed out that relatives and other close associates of the complainant mentioned in their comments that the election was transparent.

Mukhtarova added that no legal grounds were found to invalidate the voting results for the entire district, however, considering the circumstances that contradicted the requirements of the Election Code, the results at polling station No. 27 of the electoral district were declared invalid.

The issue was put to a vote and approved.

The snap parliamentary election was held in Azerbaijan on September 1.

A total of 112,749 local observers were registered, including over 65,000 representatives of political parties. There were 598 international observers from 51 organizations and 69 countries.

Among the 990 registered candidates, 305 represented 25 political parties, while 371 were party members but were not nominated by their parties. In total, 676 candidates were affiliated with political parties.
