BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. Azerbaijan has approved the "Rules for ensuring the security of critical information infrastructure" and the "Structure and procedure for creating and maintaining a register of critical information infrastructure facilities", and work is underway to create a national cyber center, the Head of the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan, Ali Naghiyev said, Trend reports.

Naghiyev's statement was made in an address to the participants of the "Critical Infrastructure Defense Challenge 2023" event, which will be held in Baku.

The appeal notes that one of the main tasks set is to collect information about cyber threats and cyber attacks on critical information infrastructure facilities, as well as about cyber incidents, systematize them, analyze them, and respond to cyber incidents, including conducting digital forensic studies in connection with the cyber incident that occurred.

Practical work on the formation and development of the national ecosystem in the field of cybersecurity has led to a serious improvement in Azerbaijan's position in the relevant international rankings. Azerbaijan's position in the international cybersecurity ranking was increased by nine indicators (security of critical information infrastructure, fight against cybercrime, activities carried out in Azerbaijan in digital forensics and other related areas, etc.).

Azerbaijan has risen by 36 positions (from 86th to 50th place) in the rating table of the National Cyber Security Index, which evaluates the activities of 176 countries in the field of cybersecurity by 46 indicators.

In addition, Azerbaijan has improved its position in the Global Cybersecurity Index 2020 (GCI) ranking compiled by the International Telecommunication Union by 15 positions, taking 40th place among 194 countries with 89.31 points.
