Last year 484 mass media agencies officially registered in Azerbaijan, Trend reports with reference to the Press Council of Azerbaijan. 396 of them are newspapers, 88 are journals and digests. 8 founders addressed the Ministry to exclude their editions from the governmental register. 348 founders are males, 62 are females and 74 are various structures and organizations.
Ragim Huseynzadeh, Executive Secretary of Press Council, said one of interesting points of this list is expansion of mass media geography. Apart from the capital, there are mass media of 27 towns and regions. Most of these editions 15 are located in Ganja, then goes Sumgayit with 8, Nakhchivan and Mingachevir with 5, followed by Absheron peninsula with 4, Imishli with 3 and Saatli, Shamkir, Bilasuvar and Jalilabad with 2 editions. 1 newspaper is registered in each of other 17 regions.
Official release says 466 editions are issued in Azeri, 14 in Russian and 4 in English; 49 editions are daily, 232 are weekly, 145 are monthly, 33 editions are issued 2 times a month, 21 issued 4 times a month, 2 editions issued 7 times a month, etc.
