During 2010 the prices of construction materials in Baku increased by 36.6 percent compared to 2009, NGO Property Market Participants said.
"Prices in the first half of 2010 increased by 14.4 percent, while in the second half - by 22.2 percent," the organization said.
During 2010, the NGO conducted a monitoring in 38 items and 88 kinds of construction materials.
In general rise in prices was observed on the imported materials, which constitute a large share in the market. Among the local materials wood and iron rose in price. The price index for construction materials in 2010 increased by 149.7 points - up to 156.1 compared to 109.7 points in 2009.
The share of local production of building materials in 2010 made up 76.5 percent. According to market research, if the rise in prices for imported materials last year was 16.7 percent, the materials of local production - 19.9 percent.
The activity of the construction materials market of Baku in 2010 decreased by 7.6 percent. Decrease in activity in this segment was mainly recorded in the second quarter.
In December 2010 the prices of construction materials rose by 0.3 percent, compared to early in the fourth quarter - 1.1 percent, December 2009 - 23.4 percent.
