BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Iran's exports of dates from Iran increased by 6.7 percent in value and 4 percent by weight in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year, representative of the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran Rouhollah Latifi wrote on social network, Trend reports.
According to Latifi, Iran exported 389,000 tons of dates worth $345 million last year.
Latifi added that Iranian dates are exported to 72 countries. Iran supplied 90,200 tons worth about $84.5 million to India, 91,200 tons worth about $72 million to Pakistan, 39,000 tons worth $36.2 million to Türkiye, 24,100 tons worth about $18 million to Kazakhstan, 10,300 tons worth about $12 million to China, 8,880 tons worth $9.44 million to Iraq, and 10,100 tons worth $9.37 million to Russia.
Meanwhile, as for the types of dates, Latifi noted that about 160,000 tons of Mozafati dates worth $181 million, 72,500 tons of Zahedi dates worth about $43.6 million, and 46,400 tons of Shahani dates worth $37.3 million were mainly exported.
To note, according to the statistics of the Iranian Customs Administration, the country's exports of non-oil products in the last Iranian year amounted to more than 136 million tons worth $49.3 billion. Compared to the previous year, Iran's non-oil exports decreased by 8.87 percent in value terms and increased by 9.82 percent in weight terms.
