Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas national oil and gas company is currently implementing the ‘Smart Field’ project, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy told Trend.
The ministry said that the oil and gas industry is one of the priority areas for development and optimization issues by digitalization are entering the forefront.
Thus, the ‘Smart Field’ project implementation is being held in order to create a system for managing the field development process and control oil production to increase the economic efficiency of production and increase the life cycle of the fields.
“Quantitative and qualitative benefits have been achieved already with the project’s implementation, such as increased transparency and data quality, faster decision making, and improved industrial safety. Within the framework of the project, work continues on the introduction of the Smart Field technologies at the oil production ventures of KazMunayGas,” the ministry said.
The ministry said that the introduction of technologies within the Smart Field will optimize the cost of electricity consumption by up to 15 percent, stabilize the level of production by up to 2 percent.
“At the same time, the transition to a 3-year overhaul period was carried out at the Atyrau and Pavlodar refineries, which allows us to reduce repair costs and increase refining volumes by reducing downtime and stops for major repairs,” the ministry said.
