Kazakhstan's Economy Ministry talks revising GDP growth forecast

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar. 17

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of National Economy is currently in the process of revising the country’s socio-economic growth forecast, Kazakhstan’s Minister of National Economy Asset Irgaliyev said, Trend reports.

Irgaliyev made the statement during a press conference held on Mar. 17, 2021.

The minister noted that the GDP growth forecast may be revised from 2.8 percent to 3.1 percent, adding that this is a preliminary indicator as of now.

He added that currently within the framework of clarifying the state budget, the Ministry of National Economy is starting to form a new round of forecasts for the next three years, in particular, to clarify the forecast for 2021.

The forecast for an increase in GDP, according to the minister, is associated with changes in the external economic situation and the dynamics of development in certain economic sectors.

Earlier this month Kazakhstan’s National Bank said that the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy of Kazakhstan is gradually weakening. An improvement in the epidemiological situation and a softening of quarantine measures is observed in many regions of the country.
