TEHRAN, Iran, Oct. 5

Trend:

Following the recent ruling of the Chief of Justice in Hormuzgan province, trawling will be legally confronted, said Managing Director of Hormuzgan Fishing Union, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Trawling destroys aquatics habitats and also caused considerable damages for local fishermen in Hormuzgan Province, Eshagh Tondro, noted.

It is expected that officials in the province and Iran Fisheries Organization will compensate the losses by creating conditions for artificial habitats, cage fish farming, and purchase of fingerling for local fishermen.

Trawling is a method of fishing that involves pulling a fishing net through the water behind one or more boats.

Trawling can be divided into bottom trawling and midwater trawling, depending on how high the trawl (net) is in the water column. Trawling, which has been widely criticized for its use, causes damage to the seabed and coral reefs.
