Turkey decreases production and consumption of oil products

Production of gasoline and diesel fuel in Turkey in January fell by 13 per cent compared to the previous month and amounted to 971,000 tons, a report of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority of Turkey (EPDK) says on Thursday.

Production of oil products during the reporting period decreased by 7.8 per cent and amounted to 1.4 million tons.

Compared to the same month of 2012, in January 2013 the production of oil products increased by 9.4 per cent and amounted to 1.4 million tons.

Gasoline consumption in Turkey in January 2013 decreased by five per cent and amounted to 134,600 tons compared to the previous month. Diesel fuel consumption in January fell by nine per cent and amounted to 1.06 million tons.

Year on year, gasoline consumption increased by 7.6 per cent and diesel fuel by 11.8 per cent.

The average price of gasoline in Turkey in January increased by 1.5 per cent compared to the previous month reaching 4.68 lira per litre. The price of diesel fuel increased by 0.5 per cent and amounted to 4.15 lira per litre.

The official exchange rate is 1.8176 TRY / USD on March 28.
