It is planned to build a number of solar plants with capacity of 50 megawatts next Iranian year (begining March 21, 2020), Director General of Technical Affairs Department of Iranian Fars Province Amir Hossein Jamshidi told Trend.
According to Jamshidi, about 40 stations are currently allowed to be built by Iranian private companies.
Official said that so far, 81 megawatts of alternative renewable energy plants have been put into operation in Fars province in southwest Iran.
"As many as 7 trillion rials (about $166 million) spent on the construction of these stations,” he said.
Jamshidi added that with investment of German investors worth 800 billion rial (about $19,000) alternative renewable energy station with 10 megawatt has been built in Fars Province of Iran and put into operation 6 months ago.
"The main problem is that solar panels are imported. Many companies have refused to build stations due to sanctions and price increases for panels," he said.
The construction of solar panels with a capacity of 2,500 megawatts was allowed in the Fars Province of Iran and part of it is in operation.
The US imposed new sanctions on Iran in November 2018. Over the past period, the sanctions affected Iranian oil exports, more than 700 banks, companies and individuals.
